We are addicted to information and incredibly competent and comfortable passing information along. And information is crucial but information alone is insufficient for a walk with Jesus.

Jesus didn't just impart information. He gave his disciples an experience where he guided them through real life situations and "coached" them (the real word is discipled) to go and grow through various situations so they would be ready to not just preach the good news but also to practice it.

Somewhere along the line we stopped mentoring people in real life situations and traded it for classrooms with rows and auditoriums with pews. The results speak for themselves. Christians don't share their faith - they don't even know how. Many think that is the preacher's job! Not good!

Let us get back to Jesus' approach to passing on faith - not just as an intellectual exercise but as a way of life together!
